Lung cancer screening

Whether you still smoke or quit years ago, a lung cancer screening can help you stay on top of your health.

What is a lung cancer screening?

Lung cancer screenings are non-invasive diagnostic tests that can help find cancer in its earliest stages — when it’s easiest to treat.

Your doctor will use a special scanner to take a detailed picture of your lungs. This painless, low-dose CT scan uses 75% less radiation than a traditional CT scan.

And it only takes a few minutes.

Who’s eligible for a lung cancer screening?

You’re eligible to receive a yearly screening if you:

  • Are between ages 50 and 80
  • Have a 20-pack-a-year history of smoking (1 pack a day for 20 years, or 2 packs a day for 10 years, or other variations. Your doctor can help you calculate your pack-year history.)
  • Smoke or have quit smoking within the last 15 years

If you fall into any of these categories, a screening may be right for you.
