What does it mean to be an overseer?

These research partners contribute to oversight committees that review proposed studies and provide monitoring and guidance to researchers on how best to engage in the responsible conduct of research.

Why is it important?

Patients engaged in oversight ensure that Geisinger’s healthcare learning, discovery, and research practices and proposed practices address patient and community needs and interests.

What opportunities are there for someone who wants to become an overseer?

• MyCode Ethics Advisory Council
• Oversight committees for specific research projects

If you have general interests in serving on an ethics oversight committee for a specific research project, contact the Principal Investigator for the project.

Note: not all projects have separate oversight committees.
