Youth programs

Looking for an excellent learning and social experience? Those between age 15-18 can broaden their outlook, interests, and sense of responsibility through our junior volunteer program. Mature teens will have the satisfaction of helping others in a working healthcare environment while gaining skills and knowledge they’ll need in the future.

High school students thinking about a healthcare-related career can explore future career opportunities through our Aspirations in Medicine and Healthcare Initiatives (AiM HI) program.

Junior Volunteer Program (JVP)

When school is out, summertime offers teens between 15-18 the chance to participate in an 8-week structured service program. We offer an exceptional experience through diverse service opportunities and planned educational days. Interested students will apply online, provide references, successfully complete the interview process, and commit to serve a minimum of 4-5 hours each week during the summer session. Participation in weekly educational workshops that explore various areas within the healthcare environment is also a component of the program.

The admission process is competitive and space in the program is limited, so applicants to the program need to complete the following steps:

  • Submit your application online between February 1- February 29, 2024.
  • Complete the required essay form
  • Arrange to have two references submitted on your behalf.

Students can participate and register for this program through their local public school. School representatives should call 570-271-6230 or email tsmcdowell1@geisinger.edu for more information.
