Fellows
Sayeda Abbas, MD
Medical school: Avalon University School of Medicine
Residency: Internal Medicine, Geisinger
Why Geisinger? I had the unique opportunity to work with the sleep medicine team at Geisinger during my residency, which was one of the driving factors for choosing to stay at Geisinger for my sleep medicine fellowship. One of the most important factors which influenced me in choosing this program was the environment of the program. During my rotations, I saw that the faculty was very interactive with its learners, going above and beyond to answer questions and provide mentorship. I was impressed with the quality of the training, the dedication of the program to provide informative didactic sessions and the focus on overall well-being in the program. We work with ENT physicians to understand their work in treating instructive airway pathologies. We are also given the opportunity to build a strong pulmonary foundation and work with managing vents in patients with respiratory failure, including patients with neuromuscular disorders. Overall, I believe that the program goes above and beyond to ensure that our year of fellowship will train us to be excellent sleep physicians.

Puja Bhardwaj, DO
Medical school: New York institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine
Residency: Internal Medicine, Zucker School of Medicine/Northwell Health at Mather Hospital
Why Geisinger? Picking Geisinger for my fellowship was an easy decision. My top priority when it came to fellowship match was picking a program that had both a strong academic foundation in addition to a community feel. Geisinger is one of the few hospitals that has a large academic center while still maintaining a close bond between its faculty and learners. In addition, the sleep fellowship has a wide range of pathology, diversity and depth making it one of the best places to learn.
