The network includes new in-state coverage areas which may change where some providers direct claims and requests for prior authorization.

Starting Sunday, June 1, Geisinger Health Plan (GHP) commercial group and marketplace members will have even greater access to care across the country with a new wrap (expanded) network provided through our recent affiliation with Cigna Healthcare. This network replaces the First Health® Network for nationwide access. The Cigna Healthcare PPO Network1 features even greater access to provider locations along with seamless claims administration.

Members will receive new ID cards in the coming months. The member’s plan type (HMO or PPO), benefit type (e.g., emergency, travel and pharmacy) and service location may determine how healthcare providers direct claims and requests for prior authorization.

Network coverage area

As of Sunday, June 1, the GHP network coverage area will consist of the counties shaded in blue.

Network coverage area implications for GHP-contracted providers

  • GHP-contracted providers within the GHP network coverage area:

Nothing will change. You’ll still send claims to GHP and request prior authorization through the appropriate GHP medical management partner application (e.g. Cohere, HealthHelp) for these members.

  • GHP-contracted providers outside the GHP network coverage area:

Starting June 1, you’ll need to send your claims for PPO members to Cigna Healthcare. Medical benefit prior authorization requests will also need to be made through Cigna Healthcare for PPO members.

Claims and prior authorization requests for HMO members will still go through GHP.

Pharmacy benefit prior authorization for both PPO and HMO members will still go through Navitus.
